Masjid al-Amudayn, the Mosque of Two Pillars, was renovated under the direction of Mohamed Zakariya. The mosque serves as a reminder of what Islamic architecture can accomplish when, according to tradition, it finds a harmonious balance between the indigenous culture within which it operates and the centuries old tradition of art and design inspired by the religion.
